Rick Buckler, former drummer in The Jam, has died at the age of 69, his ex-bandmates have confirmed on social media. The Jam rose to fame in the punk and new wave era of the late 1970s and are credited with inspiring a revival in mod fashion and music.

Rick Buckler, the drummer of The Jam, has died aged 69, his management company has said. Buckler, who died after a short illness, was a founding member of band which formed in Woking in 1972. He played playing in the band's classic line-up alongside bass player Bruce Foxton, 69, and lead singer and guitarist Paul Weller, 66.
