Hundreds of Albertans, including politicians of all stripes, were to gather at city hall Monday evening to celebrate the annual menorah lighting event, part of the Jewish festival of Hanukkah that symbolizes the victory of light over darkness.

The car parade began Sunday afternoon at Swantner Park and ended at Water's Edge Park, where a grand menorah was lit.

The oversized menorah in the Pennsylvania Capitol was officially lit Thursday evening as the second night of Hanukkah began.

On the second night of Hanukkah, city leaders in Kansas City met with members of the Jewish community to recognize and celebrate the festival of lights.
