Another powerful storm system is expected to sweep across a wide swath of the United States, bringing heavy rain to Southern California, heavy snow to parts of the West and Midwest and more snow and freezing rain to the Northeast and New England.

Two separate snowstorms are likely in Mid-Michigan this weekend, each bringing the potential for several more inches.

According to the National Weather Service, Oswego is forecast to receive 11 inches, while some spots west of Boonville are in range to get hit with more than 18 inches of snowfall. Syracuse, which lies to the southeast of Lake Ontario, is expected to take on 8 inches of snow from this storm.

Storm Jett is ready to make a cross-country trek, bringing snow to the majority of the Northern Tier after getting started on the West Coast midweek.
