The bird populations have recovered to the point where their question of their survival in the Garden State is no longer in doubt, though the bald eagle’s status remains of “special concern.”

Eagles, along with their fish-loving cousins, osprey, were once almost gone from New Jersey. Both species have recovered enough that the state announced their removal from the endangered species list Monday.
