A man in Memphis, Tenn. was laying in his bed when his 1-year-old Pitbull named Oreo shot him in the leg. According toThe Guardian, Jerald Kirkwood told police in Memphis that he and a woman were lying in bed with a firearm when his dog jumped up and inadvertently caused the weapon to discharge.

In a rare incident, a man has been shot by his own dog while lying in bed. Police reacted and a friend of the affected man disclosed what happened.

The incident's eerily similar to a 2018 accidental shooting in southern New Mexico, where a 74-year-old hunter landed in the hospital when his dog's paw got caught in his rifle's trigger. The man was sitting in the truck and the rifle was in the backseat.

The man told officers he was lying on his bed with a friend when his dog jumped onto the bed and its paw got stuck in the gun’s trigger guard, police said according to WMC. The pet ended up hitting the trigger, the gun went off and the man was grazed in his left thigh, police said.
