The trash strike continues into the July 4 holiday weekend, as Republic Services and union members failed to negotiate a new contract.

Following a strike vote that passed by more than 90 percent on Monday, members of Teamsters Local 25 at Republic Services are about to conclude their first week of the work stoppage without a fair offer from the company.

The Republic Services media team said that the company and Teamsters Local 25 met with a federal mediator on July 2. The Republic’s media team said, “The Teamsters did not match our willingness to achieve a new contract.
