The Trump administration has seized the second of two planes belonging to Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro's government that is currently in the Dominican Republic.

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio on Thursday oversaw the seizure of a Venezuelan government plane in the Dominican Republic. U.S. authorities had "determined that there is a basis to file a civil forfeiture action to recover the aircraft,

The US on Thursday seized a second aircraft belonging to the Venezuelan government in less than a year during a visit to the Dominican Republic by Secretary of State Marco Rubio, despite nascent diplomacy with leftist leader Nicolas Maduro.

It marks the second plane taken for sanctions and money laundering violations tied to President Nicolas Maduro’s regime.
