Ontario is set to make Premier Doug Ford and cabinet members' records secret as it "modernizes" freedom of information laws.

Speaking at a mining convention Monday, Ford said roads connecting the 5,000-square-kilometre area to the province's highways would be completed by 2031 and spur mining development in the province.

Ontario says elementary school homeroom teachers will receive $750 a year for classroom supplies starting in September 2026.
