Springfield residents beg politicians to stop false stories
They don't want to go outside at all. For example, last Sunday we have our church is empty. We don't see none of them coming because they scared coming outside. I'm somewhat on the angry side, but not angry at the Haitians. I'm angry at our elected officials who have poured this upon us. Everybody's doing the best they can and providing as much assistance as they can, but it's overwhelming. There's a lot of Trump supporters, Haitians from supporters, especially down in Miami and business owners are Trump supporters, you know, and with all this happening, it was like it was a slap in in their faces. The questions of how do we grow the city? How do we provide affordable housing? Those are some very real challenges. But the fact that they've existed before the Haitians arrived mean that they're clearly much too complex for a sound bite. Whereas vilifying a group of people that makes a really quick sound bite.
