Google Maps Is Deleting Your Entire Location History. Here’s How to Save It
Android Authority reveals that in December 2023, Google began to save your location history to the device instead of the cloud. But the emails suggest that that’s going away soon. Some emails mention a November 19 deadline for the new changes, while others say December 1. Given this ambiguity, it is best to act as soon as possible.
Google Maps is going to delete your location history very soon — here’s how to stop it
Head to takeout.google.com, and untick every option except Location History (Timeline). From there, hit Next Step > Create Export, and you’ll get a backup copy of all your saved location history. Google is also apparently rolling out a dedicated export button to individual devices, hidden in the Location services menu.
