Wildfires driven by high winds forced thousands of residents in Oklahoma to evacuate their homes Sunday.

What seemed like an easy victory turned into a high-scoring nail biter with the Sooners left standing.

Strong winds and extremely dry conditions are increasing wildfire danger across Oklahoma, prompting fire responses, evacuation concerns and outages.

A cold front with strong wind gusts is bringing a high fire risk for much of Oklahoma on Sunday and several large fires have already sparked.

A local program is aimed at bridging that gap for Oklahoma mothers. “I feel like accessibility is a really big thing for the families that we work with,” said Kaydee Norton, program coordinator, Motherhood Matters. Norton says access and understanding of how to navigate prenatal care can be a major challenge for many mothers.
