Tropical Storm Sara has formed off the coast of Honduras, threatening to unleash catastrophic flooding and landslides across Central America.

With atmospheric steering currents in near total collapse, Sara has been essentially adrift while streaming a constant river of tropical moisture into the vulnerable countrysides with over 30 inches of rain so far in some areas.

The Hurricane Center expects the storm will move near the Bay Islands of Honduras on Saturday before approaching Belize. Sara is then expected to turn northwesterly toward Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula,

Sara’s remnants are expected to bring rain but no tropical impacts to Florida next week, followed by much cooler air.

Tropical Storm Sara is expected to dissipate before reaching Gulf of Mexico. FOX 13 Meteorologist Valerie Mills says Florida will get a taste of the tropical moisture from the remnants of Sara next week.
