Following the Air India crash in Ahmedabad that killed 270, 119 victims have been identified via DNA matching. 76 bodies, including former CM Vijay Rupani's, were released to families.

The identification and handing over process is ongoing for the rest, with authorities working round-the-clock in coordination with forensic teams and grieving families.

Filmmaker Mahesh Kalawadia (Mahesh Jirawala) went missing the day Air India flight AI-171 crashed in Ahmedabad on June 12, 2025. His family has submitted DNA samples as his phone's last location was near the crash site.

Following the Air India AI 171 plane crash, authorities handed over the remains of 38 victims to their families by Sunday evening, including passengers, crew, and those on the ground. DNA matching successfully identified 86 passengers and crew members.
