National Park Service Director Chuck Sams made history on day one in office in 2021, by becoming the first Native American to lead NPS.  Sams is Cayuse and Walla Walla and an enrolled member of the Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation.

In a post on his social media platform, Truth Social, Trump said he ordered the inauguration to be moved inside. The Joint Congressional Committee on Inauguration Ceremonies said in a statement that they’ll honor his request.
