Talking to hockey people both inside and outside the Detroit Red Wings organization, there was never any doubt that Marco Kasper was going to evolve into a very useful NHL player.
Marco Kasper scored twice, Lucas Raymond had a goal and three assists, and the Detroit Red Wings rallied to beat the Los Angeles Kings 5-2.
It is fascinating to look at the NHL over the same period of time. Kasper is right behind Martin Necas and Nathan MacKinnon in scoring (both have 12 points). Following behind him are Quinn Hughes (11), Mark Stone (11), and Connor McDavid (11).
Tampa Bay does everything but score against Detroit and has nothing to show for it in another loss to a division opponent.
Lucas Raymond continues to grow each year and is Detroit’s top point producer. The speedy winger plays with a lot of grit and determination. Detroit will need every bit of it tonight as they face Edmonton.
McLellan has put his stamp on the Red Wings a month into his tenure. They’re playing faster. They’re scoring more. They’re outshooting opponents most nights because of better puck possession and a newfound shot mentality.
Observations on an excellent night for Cam Talbot, Detroit's painful path to a 2–0 victory, and another impressive night for youngsters Marco Kasper and Albert Johansson
