Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara says it’s the third shooting at the homeless encampment in south Minneapolis in recent weeks and residents are fed up with the violence.

The incidents occurred within a 16-hour period in Minneapolis’ Phillips neighborhood. No motive had been established as of late Wednesday.

Two men are dead after a mass shooting in downtown Minneapolis that also left two teenage girls and a woman with gunshot wounds. Minneapolis Police Department says multiple fights broke out near the intersection of 5th Street South and Hennepin Avenue – an area home to several bars and nightclubs – shortly before 2 a.m., with gunfire then erupting.

O'Hara said once the crime scene had been cleared, police would assist the city in clearing out the encampment.
