The system is forecast to become a tropical storm on Thursday and continue strengthening as it moves near the coast of Central America. The track is unclear due to atmospheric conditions but the national hurricane center believes it will make landfall in Belize as a tropical cyclone, possibly on Monday afternoon.

Tropical Storm Sara has formed in the Caribbean Sea and is forecast to continue strengthening, according to the National Hurricane Center.

The storm is expected to strengthen before approaching Belize and the Yucatan Peninsula of Mexico early next week.

The National Hurricane Center is also asking residents of the eastern Gulf Coast, including Florida, to monitor the storm closely since it has the potential to reach the US.

A shift in Tropical Depression 19's track has significantly impacted meteorologists' predictions about its potential to form into Hurricane Sara.

If the tropical depression intensifies, it will become the 19th named storm of this year's Atlantic hurricane season.

Tropical Storm Sara formed Thursday afternoon in the western Caribbean. As of the 4 p.m. advisory, Sara had winds of 40 mph and was moving west at 10 mph. Sara is the 18th named storm of the 2024 Atlantic Hurricane Season.
