A New Delhi -bound Air India Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner flight has been forced to turn back on Monday after the pilot said the jet was facing a technical issue mid-air. The plane returned to its origin of Hong Kong as a precautionary measure, a source with direct knowledge of the matter told Reuters.

A newly engaged couple were among the nearly 300 people who died on June 12 when Air India Flight AI-171 crashed just seconds after takeoff. Hardik Avaiya, 27, and Vibhooti Patel, 28, were traveling back to their home in England after celebrating their engagement with their families and friends when they were killed in the tragic incident.

Three days after the crash, only 35 bodies had been handed over to relatives from an overall official death toll of 270.

Air India has confirmed that one passenger survived Thursday's airplane crash, which had 242 passengers and crew members on board.
