Lady Gaga jokingly addressed the reception to Joker: Folie à Deux during her SNL opening monologue, including the sequel's multiple Razzie nominations.

The pop superstar, who took on the roles of both host and musical guest, also performed tracks from her new album, Mayhem.

Lady Gaga, tonight pulling double-duty as musical guest and host of 'SNL', had no trouble turning the joke on herself, poking fun at 'Joker 2.'

It was even given several Golden Raspberry Award (Razzie), including Worst Sequel along with Worst Screen Combo for Lady Gaga and Joaquin Phoenix. On Saturday night's episode of Saturday Night Live, Gaga appeared to pull double duty as the show's host and musical guest.

Lady Gaga spun some comedy out of some of her less glamorous career developments in her return to “Saturday Night Live,” cracking jokes about R. Kelly’s appearance during her prior hosting gig and scoring some laughs for the notoriously bad reception for “Joker: Folie à Deux.

The singer made the ill-fated sequel the butt of her jokes after the film royally bombed among critics and at the box office.

And yet, that's exactly what director Todd Philips did, enlisting Lady Gaga to star alongside Joaquin Phoenix in the musical Joker: Folie à Deux. One of the most critically panned movies of 2024, the film currently holds a 31 percent on Rotten Tomatoes and is one of those rare films in which audiences and critics seem to hold it in equal contempt.
