Patriots cornerback and core special teamer Marcellas Dial Jr. has suffered a season-ending injury. Dial was diagnosed with a torn ACL, according to Mike Reiss of ESPN. The 24-year-old Dial was carted off the practice field on Monday.

The Patriots’ secondary took a big hit this week. New England cornerback Marcellas Dial Jr. was carted off the field Monday after tearing his ACL during training camp and will miss the rest of the season, the team announced Tuesday. The injury adds to what has been a tough summer for the Patriots’ cornerback unit.

The Patriots made four other transactions on Tuesday, including placing defensive tackle Jaquelin Roy on injured reserve and releasing tight end Tyler Davis.
