A Republican county official on Long Island who had refused to lower flags to half-staff following the death of former President Jimmy Carter has changed his mind.

With the death of President Jimmy Carter at age 100, President Joe Biden has ordered flags to fly at half-mast.

Democrats on New York’s Long Island cried foul over the weekend after a Donald Trump-supporting county executive did not lower his jurisdiction’s flags to half-staff in honor of the late President Jimmy Carter,

A Republican official who oversees Nassau County on New York's Long Island  seemingly refused to lower flags to half-staff in memory of the late Democratic President Jimmy Carter, who died last weekend at the age of 100.

Flags will remain at half-mast and half-staff most of the month for Jimmy Carter's death. Jan. 9 will be a national day of mourning for his funeral.

The White House ordered that flags at all federal buildings and grounds and at U.S. embassies around the world be flown at half-mast through Jan. 28 in honor of former President Jimmy Carter
