Alan Cumming is happy he got the chance to reprise his role as Kurt Wagner, a.k.a Nightcrawler, in Avengers: Doomsday after his “terrible” experience shooting X2: X-Men United . The 60-year-old actor revealed in a recent PEOPLE interview that he “just finished” filming his Doomsday scenes earlier this month.

Alan Cumming is back for “Avengers: Doomsday,” revising his role as the blue-skinned, sword-wielding, teleporting Nightcrawler. While Cumming famously didn’t love his time on “X2” (the character did not return for “X-Men: The Last Stand,” the actor said his second turn in the pointy ears was a healing experience.

Alan Cumming will return as his iconic character, Nightcrawler, in the upcoming Marvel film, Avengers: Doomsday. The actor, who portrayed the role in the 2003 film, X2, shared that the reprisal was quite better than the filming experience he had on the sets of the Hugh Jackman starrer.
