Percussionist Miles Fairchild plays the xylophone during band practice Thursday at Kokomo High School. Fairchild was selected to Indiana Music Educators Association’s All-State Percussion Ensemble. He is believed to be the first KHS student to ever selected for the honor.

INDIANAPOLIS — One person died in a house fire in Kokomo late Friday night. The fire was reported just after 11 p.m. on Jan. 17 in the 1100 block of North Armstrong Street, near West Elm Street and North Washington Street.
