Google Chrome users are being tracked. Last year’s decision to resurrect tracking cookies triggered a privacy storm, as did alleged data collection from private browsing sessions. But Google’s planned new upgrade should fix this once and for all. Don’t get too excited, though. There’s a nasty new tracking surprise that has just gone live.

In an October 2024 announcement, Google had planned to enable native support for third-party autofill services, including password managers, in Chrome 131, to allow direct form filling on websites. However, due to developer feedback, the release has been delayed, as confirmed in the latest announcement.

Google is currently testing a new security feature in Chrome Canary for Android that can scan APK downloads for potential malware, as reported by MSPowerUser. This comes after recent updates to the Play Store that reduced warnings for downloading APK files.
