The U.S. Coast Guard has suspended its search for a dad who disappeared off the coast of California while kayaking. The missing kayaker departed from Mission Bay in San Diego around 11:45 a.m. local time on Friday,

Through investigation, rescuers said they learned the kayak belonged to a man, identified by family as Danny Marron of Yuma, Arizona, who left Mission Bay at about 11:45 a.m., KNSD reported. Marron’s wife, Eryka Arizaga, told KSWB he was a competition outrigger paddler.

An empty outrigger kayak was found Friday afternoon in Mission Bay and lifeguards and Coast Guard personnel have been searching for the missing boater.

The Coast Guard decided to suspend the search after considering environmental factors and the probability of survival.
