Marketa Vondrousova clinched her biggest win since kicking off her post-surgery comeback as the Czech ousted Aryna Sabalenka 6-2 6-4 to reach the Berlin final but also register her first-ever win against a world No. 1.

This was Vondrousova's first victory over a current world number one, as she levelled her career head-to-head record with Sabalenka to 4-4
