General wildfire advice from the FCDO warns that wildfires happen often in Spain and Portugal during the summer months. It says, “wildfires are highly dangerous and unpredictable”, and advises travellers in high-risk areas to follow the advice of local authorities.

Portugal is also suffering from wildfires right now, with blazes recorded in Moimenta de Beira, on the outskirts of the city of Trancoso in the Guarda District. The latter is reportedly being fought by almost 700 firefighters, according to The Portugal News .
