Saturday’s train bridge collapse in Corvallis doesn’t risk contaminating the city’s water supply, officials said Monday.

A massive effort is underway in Corvallis after a 19-car freight train derailed when a bridge over the Marys River collapsed, sending one train car into the river and left another one dangling.

Recovery efforts to remove the train cars are underway. The railroad company is coordinating with state agencies on environmental assessments. Corvallis officials note that City's main water intake on the Willamette River is located about two miles upstream of the incident site,
