Aug 25, 2022 · What I think I'm hearing is the answer is a resounding no. The code for hardware acceleration in the free version is essentially the same in the Studio version. The difference might be that the Studio could make use of multiple gpus. DR Free 18.0.1 Win10Home /19043.1052 - Ryzen 9 5900X 3.7 GHz, 32GB RAM.

Now, I've purchased a Sony A7IV camera and shoot my videos in XAVC S 4K and XAVC HS 4K file formats in 10-bit 4:2:2. As the free version does not support Sony formats, I'm considering investing in Studio.

Both 15 and now 16 offer the option of H.264 using the nVidia card. H.265 actually requires an nVidia card. I don't recommend using the GPU for external display.

To utilize CUDA 11 Nvidia cards need the Compute Capability to be 3.5 or higher, otherwise you will only have OpenCL available. Resolve Studio 19.0.3 build 5.
