Hey Drum Family! Please join me in remembering Sidney "Big Sid" Catlett born on January 17, 1910. Sid was a very versatile drummer who gained popularity as the Be-Bop era was emerging. Are you familiar with Sid's work? He worked with Benny Carter, McKinney's Cotton Pickers, Fletcher Henderson, and Don Redman and between 1938 and 1942, he was Louis Armstrong's drummer of choice. He also worked with Benny Goodman's band, Duke Ellington as well as leading his own bands and groups. Check out Sid in
