One of the best benefits working for the State of Texas is the retirement plan! Beginning in September of this year, the Employees Retirement System of Texas (ERS) administered a new retirement plan for all new state workers including TDCJ. Through this new plan, new employees will contribute 6% of their pre-tax salary, which will have a guaranteed growth of 4% interest each year, with a potential for an additional 3% per year with gain sharing.
