History and scenery at Short Hills Station in New Jersey. The station stop was established on the Delaware, Lackawanna, and Western Railroad in 1879 when Stewart Hartshorne developed the Short Hills section of Millburn. Hartshorne funded the station himself and persuaded the Lackawanna to serve it with two stops per day. The current station buildings were built in 1907 by the Lackawanna after Hartshorne's original structure was demolished. The stop sees regular commuter traffic to New York City
