Quanza dances to her own tune! Quanza reminds us how elephants go about life at their own pace. She is the same age as best friends Lima Lima, Sonje, Zongoloni, and Murera, all of whom became mothers early in life. Quanza, however, shows no such inclination. Wild bulls are very interested in her, but unlike the boy-obsessed Lima Lima, she carefully dodges their advances. For now, Quanza prefers her role as a nanny — and an excellent one she is! This evening, Maxwell had guests for dinner! Black rhinos are solitary by nature, but he has a special friendship with these wild warthogs and often invites them into his domain. This is also a lovely display of trust on Max’s part. He is permanently blind, as a result of a congenital eye condition. Because of this, he would not survive in the wild and has a permanent home with us. He is a beloved (and very spoiled!) member of our Nursery family.
