Sitting or sleeping with legs down for long periods, limited mobility, high-salt diets, and untreated conditions like heart or kidney disease all cause fluid to build up in the legs. I see legs like this regularly in clinical practice. What doesn’t get talked about enough is the serious medical conditions people experiencing homelessness live with every day — not just the homelessness itself
