DNA, short for deoxyribonucleic acid, consists of nucleotides forming a double helix structure. Nucleotides contain a phosphate group, deoxyribose sugar, and a nitrogenous base. The bases, adenine, thymine, cytosine, and guanine, pair up through hydrogen bonds, creating the rungs of the DNA ladder.
